I'm not. It seems to be something that affects nearly every person who uses Windows by choice. It's actually kind of a testament to Microsoft's marketing that they can continue to release terrible, broken products and people still keep purchasing them.

It has always worked for me when I needed it.

That’s actually more frustrating, since it qualifies with “that now-inactive space” after disabling Siri.

To me that means if you go with the “nothing” route and disable Siri, the local latent models aren’t removed from storage until your device fills up, with the hope you enable Siri again.

Akin to all of Microsoft's apps with disparate Windows features pre-installed and unable to be removed from your device except through Storage Sense.

Even for iCloud subscribers with newer hardware, as the cloud version should be faster. You’d have the choice between privacy and better performance.

They don't have incentives to reclaim space imediately since disks that appear to be full sell more iCloud subscriptions.

Don't get me started as well on how the iCloud plans jump from 200gb to 2TB with absolutely nothing in between. Apple really knows how to extort their customers!

That's not just an Apple thing though. Google does the same thing. Dropbox only offers 2TB plan. OneDrive is just as expensive but offers 1TB.

They are all counting on you not using all of that space in the 2TB plan. So the avg user is subsidizing the usage of some small fraction of power users. They don't want to offer pay-per-use pricing plans because then they would have to increase the price ($/GB/month) to keep their existing margins.

I'm stuck in this dilema too.

This is one of the very techniques under which the entire Apple Empire has been built. They take the "sweet spot" for $product and intentionally offer options on either side of that sweet spot. They also nerf the lower-end option in other ways (i.e. fewer ports) so to make the upgrade more enticing. This enables them to offer "Prices starting from...." that are dead-end options (like 8GB RAM or 128GB HD's).

Lots of companies do this across various industries. But it works best when the brand name is really strong and/or the competitive landscape is very weak.

Apple should not be allowed to have a monopoly on iCloud. They ought to be forced to have an open spec such that competitors could offer alternative cloud storage services.

It can. I don’t understand how anyone willingly keeps autocorrect enabled on iOS. The autosuggestions are nevertheless still bad.

The iPhone keyboard "intelligent" tap target size is independent of autocorrect, however, and you can't turn it off or adjust it's behavior.

Yes, the keyboard is pretty bad in various ways. I’m still surprised how many comments in this thread (and similar threads in the past) are mentioning the autocorrection, implying that they haven’t turned it off.

They've made covering your face illegal in lots of places before the pandemic made it obligatory. We had protests here where people wore masks and masks were swiftly banned. It's ok for police though.

I would expect it to be covered under any existing laws about circumventing security systems or impeding law enforcement. A more specific law would probably pass in this environment though.
