Big Pharma refuses to believe that the gut microbiome plays a significant role in human health. They either don't take it seriously or think it's so complex that it's not worth working on. I think they're totally wrong and that the microbiome is the arbiter of not only Alzheimers but cancer and other metabolic disorders like T2 Diabetes.

Regardless of what you believe, the idea that big pharma doesn't believe in gut microbiome playing a significant role in human health is absolutely wrong as easily seen by the rise of GLP-1 drugs (which affect gut microbiome) and are the blockbuster drugs "big pharma" is investing heavily in currently. Perhaps, go take a look at that.

GLP-1’s are a weak counterpoint. Perhaps go take a look at that yourself.

I hate this and I hate that they think it's what they should be doing.

If Google can't see the difference between this and useful, moral AI tools then I worry for their path forward.

I thought this was Apple’s plan all along. How is this not already their thing?

great tip! i didnt know this.

The only reason they would do this is because some kind of research determined it would yield higher revenue.

It does blow my mind that advertisers pay to show ads and I pay to not show ads.

That my friends is a Business Model.

Childbirth was extraordinaly dangerous. 6-8 births per woman and a 1-2% chance of dying per birth for the majority of history.

We have no idea what that was like. Rates today are ~0.013%.

I’m a little confused. So you got a VPS… was that just to host the result? Surely you weren’t running the models on it?

What were the models running on? It doesn’t matter a ton but would help paint the whole picture better.

Also no mention of quants and not even sizes in many cases. I wish someone did this kind of comparison well.

Opencode doesn't publish what quantization they offer.

I’m a Cursor user but I am not an agent maximalist. I just like having it work on code in an IDE with good inline diffs and a nice chat UI.

This change is possibly too big and unless all my existing usage patterns are maintained or improved, I’ll likely give CC a try now. Not optimistic.

If you're in the market, OpenCode is quite good and has become my daily driver. You may also consider pi[0], but that's (from what I've heard) more agenty.

I only used Cursor in short bursts so 20 USD per month was hard to justify. I recently switched to VSCodium + Cline + OpenRouter and I can use any model I want (currently Step 3.5 Flash for "Temu Sonnet"). It scratches the itch very well for me for literal pennies on the dollar.

I should also add: Cline doesn't require any account at all. I just installed the extension and added my OpenRouter API key and that was it.

Yep, Composer 2 has been quite good for me too. I only turn to Opus for major brainteasers.
